Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born March 22, 1976. She has received numerous accolades such as an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine and Forbes both have named her among the 100 most influential people across the globe in 2007 and 2015 and 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the world's richest actress with an estimated net worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career as a teenagerand made her screen debut with The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakout came in 1999 with her role as a support in Cruel Intentions as well as her performance as Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her parts in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) have earned her more attention. Her work was critically acclaimed, and she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for playing June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career during which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box-office hit, Witherspoon decided to make an comeback to the industry and produce and perform in Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). This brought her another Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she has been working primarily on television, producing and appearing in numerous female-led adaptations of literary works under her company Hello Sunshine. These include Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show which is an Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first of these series. She has also produced the adaptations to film Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon also owns a clothing line, Draper James, and she is active in children's and women's advocacy groups. She is a member of the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was named Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007. In that capacity, she serves as chair honorary of Avon Foundation's charitable foundation dedicated to women's issues.
