Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946, into a humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she was able to escape her hardships through a vivid imagination. Her songs were written before she could read and write. When she got her first guitar at the age of eight, she started performing on local radio stations from Knoxville in Tennessee. That same year, she recorded her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Even though she was still studying, she established a name for herself in the local music scene. However, her goal was to to make music on a bigger scale. On the 14th of March, 1964, following her graduation from high-school the singer moved to Nashville. The first charting record she had for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time, was in search for a singer for his program. Parton was offered the gig in 1967 and signed to RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. But she resigned from the show in 1974, as her own releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song"I Will Never Love You and had it reach No. In 1974, Parton's song I Will Always Love You reached the No.
